All Done: Gown for New Year’s Formal

The dress is all done!

After this project, I love, love, love, love cotton!!! =)
Silk charmeuse, being slippery and all, is hard to work with. Poly charmeuse even harder and don't get me started on stretch poly charmeuse!!!! It was a fun but challenging project and I had to break out the reference books. The microtex needle, elastic stitch, long straight stitch, ruffler, hemming and walking feet were my friends =) I had to do french seams for the most part and did a good amount of hand stitching. Buky wanted the neck ruffle to stand so I used some poly chiffon gauze type fabric and tulle. I probably could have gotten away with just the former fabric alone. All in all, it turned out well and as with all projects, you pick up things to do different next time.
